Power Play (2021)

Raj Tarun and Vijay Kumar Konda are names that have become synonymous with breezy rom coms in Telugu cinema. So to see the duo collaborate on a thriller, a first for both of them at that, does seem like a leap of faith at the outset. Even more so for the producers, considering they are first-timers launching a new banner. Jokes apart, the movie clearly does have all the makings of a bold experiment. The big question though is: Does all the intent and bravado translate into exciting cinema? Well, for the first fifteen minutes or so at least, as the characters are established, it all seems a tad too slow. Except for a few minor errors of logic, this movie hits all the right notes. All in all, this thriller definitely packs a punch. Total paisa vasool!
