Gaali Sampath (2021)

Anil Ravipudi is known for making commercial films and he explored a new territory with Gaali Sampath, content-driven film and his expedition is not a smooth one. He fails to work his magic with the suspense drama. The film is powered by an excellent performance from Rajendra Prasad but it fails to hold the attention of the viewers, owing to the bland narration. The audiences never really connect with the characters and that works against the cause. The concept is good but the execution not quite.

Rajendra Prasad takes up a gutsy role and delivers one of his finest performances in recent times. Sree Vishnu too delivers a mature performance and his equation with Rajendra Prasad is the highlight of this film. Even though it's a new genre in Telugu cinema, director Annish Krishna struggled to present his story in an engaging manner and the film had more misses than hits. With such a strong cast, a better story was needed to elevate this film and live up to its potential. Sadly, you feel short-changed at the end of it all.

Gaali Sampath, despite having big names like Rajendra Prasad, Sree Vishnu, and Anil Ravipudi does not create the needed impact. The story is a bit outdated and the narration gets illogical in places. The film’s fate at the box-office heavily depends on how the B and C center audiences receive the loud comedy generated through Rajendra Prasad’s Gaali Sampath character. If you are planning to watch Gaali Sampath this weekend, we recommend that you just keep your expectations low.

Gaali Sampath is a first of its kind attempt in Telugu Cinema and has been executed perfectly. It has brilliant performances from the lead cast and arguably the career-best performance from Rajendra Prasad. The story is brilliant and there are not many flaws while executing. The overall feel, the hilarious comedy, the emotional depth in the characters make it a must-watch film.
